What’s New International Golf 2026 And Beyond

Posted onSeptember 7, 2026 Curracloe Links, Ernie Els, golf travel, golf vacations, international golf course design, New golf courses, new golf courses 2026, new international golf courses, New Ireland golf, New Scotland golf course, New Vietnam golf course, Nick Faldo, Tom Doak

Build them and they will come seems to be the mantra in golf course construction these days. New courses are popping up with regularity in traditional golf havens like Scotland, Australia and Mexico as well as emerging markets like Vietnam and Italy.

Here are some high-profile projects opening this year or in the near future:

La Maviglia (Puglia, Italy)

If you love the Amalfi Coast, you’d enjoy the less crowded and relaxed Puglia region, in Italy’s heel, with its stunning seaside clifftops, ancient villages and expansive olive groves. Set to debut in 2027, La Maviglia is an upcale golf resort situated in the heart of Puglia’s Primitivo wine region. Designed by the German team of Stadler & Reinmuth, the course spans olive groves and vineyards.

Oleada Golf Links (Cabo San Lucas, Mexico)

Designed by Ernie Els, this recently opened layout is a links-style course with dramatic elevation changes, sandy dune ridges and ocean views from every hole. It has five par 5’s and five par 3’s.

Old Petty at Cabot Highlands (Inverness, Scotland)

Opened in May (2026), this Tom Doak design is oozing with historic surroundings. It weaves past a 400-year old castle and plays alongside Old Petty Church, which was built in 1839. Golfers are already raving about the great greens, which are already considered some of the best in Scotland. Some of Doak’s other high-profile designs are Pacific Dunes at Bandon Dunes in Oregon and Cape kidnappers in New Zealand.

Albatros Course at Le Golf National (Paris, France)

Following an extensive two-year enhancement program, the Albatros course, site of the 2018 Ryder Cup matches, will reopen this month (September 2026). Remodeled greens, redesigned bunkers, new tee boxes, enhanced contours and more resilient turf varieties were the integral elements of the renovation. Le Golf National is located in Guyancourt, a suburb southwest of Paris.

Ponta do Pargo (Madeira, Portugal)

Slated to open later this year (2026) or early 2027, this Nick Faldo designed gem has a clifftop setting with over 600 feet of elevation change and dramatic panoramas of the Atlantic Ocean.

Van Lang Empire T&T Golf Club (Phu Tho, Vietnam)

Set about 90 miles from downtown Hanoi, this recently opened Greg Norman design is built on undulating terrain with eight lakes, dramatic elevation changes and several holes framed by forest.

The Cliffs Kangaroo Island (Australia)

Recently opened, this postcard beautiful, links-style course sits atop spectacular 82-foot high cliffs overlooking the Southern Ocean with rolling dunes and drop dead gorgeous coastal scenery. Kangaroo Island is located off the Australian mainland about 70 miles southwest of Adelaide.

Curracloe Links (County Wexford, Ireland)

Opening in July 2027, this much anticipated layout is a linksland stunner that will feature rolling hills and undulations, rugged natural bunkers and awe-inspiring sea views. The design team of Fry/Straka did a fabulous job of creating a compelling and challenging course on a phenomenal piece of land. Curracloe Links is situated two hours from the Dublin Airport.
