5 Reasons to Love Happy Gilmore 2

Posted onJuly 28, 2025July 30, 2025 Adam Sandler, Adam Sandler Happy Gilmore, Happy Gilmore, Happy Gilmore 2, Happy Gilmore 2 review, Happy Gilmore2 on Netflix, John Daly, netflix Happy Gilmore 2

1. Next Level Goofy Humor

If you’re a big fan of cheesy, sophomoric humor like me, you’ll love this movie. Following in the kick-in-the-balls comedic tradition of Caddyshack, Happy Gilmore, Naked Gun and Airplane, Happy Gilmore 2 is brimming with stupid sight gags, wisecrack lines and basic dumb stuff to keep you laughing. For the erudite snobs who prefer their humor much more subtle and less idiotic, your best bet is to keep scrolling on Netflix for hours and find something else to watch.

2. Cameos Galore

In total, there are a whopping 74 cameos in Happy Gilmore 2. From the golf universe you’ve got everybody from Scottie and Rory to Bryson and Brooksie as well as legends like Jack Nicklaus, Lee Trevino and Nancy Lopez.  Music superstars Eminem, Bad Bunny, Kid Cudi and Post Malone appear briefly along with comedians Rob Schneider and John Lovitz.  Playing their roles to perfection are John Daly, a hard drinking Gilmore brother who lives in Happy’s garage; Paige Spiranac, who is a curvy Dick’s Sporting Goods employee in the film and Wil Zalatoris, a PGA Tour player that has a serious grudge with Happy. Among other interesting cameos include Guy Fieri, WNBA star Kelsey Plum and former Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush.

3. Shooter McGavin is Back

I mean, there’s no way you can make a Happy Gilmore film without annoying bad guy Shooter McGavin. In Gilmore 2, McGavin, who bills himself as “the greatest golfer in the 90s” (conveniently forgetting about Tiger Woods), is released from prison and finds purpose in his life by antagonizing Happy all over again. Shooter is not all bad, though, as he helps Happy defeat the evil Maxi Tour.

4. Makes Hilarious Fun of LIV

The plot incorporates a rival golf league called the Maxi Tour that offers up some suspicious familiarity to the LIV Golf Tour. The Maxi Tour is a zany group of over-the-top golfers that are loud and obnoxious with various in-your-face antics. Happy and his band of well known PGA Tour golfers take on the Maxi Tour in a battle royal with supersonic golf carts, fireworks spewing scoreboards, 900 yard drives, rotating greens and an ice rink as one putting surface. Just like in real life, the fight is for professional golf supremacy.

5. Scottie Scheffler is the Man

I won’t totally ruin the scene for you but Scottie has another run-in with law enforcement in Happy Gilmore 2. By just acting his nonchalant self, Scheffler is superb in all of his scenes and just downright funny. He’s able to poke fun at himself and show that he’s got a great sense of humor, especially with getting arrested again in the film and making light of his actual arrest at the 2024 PGA Championship in Louisville, Kentucky. One of his funniest scenes is after Gilmore teaches him how to win a hockey fight and later Scottie uses the technique to pummel an opponent from the evil “Maxi Tour”.
